Hayley Williams’ “Petals For Armor” might be one of the most anticipated releases of 2020, or at least when it comes to solo albums. On Feb. 6, Hayley Williams released “Petals For Armor: I,” the first part of her new album.

“Petals For Armor I” is a compilation of five funky, soft rock songs. There is a bit of an R&B flare, almost resembling Justin Timberlake.

There is a raw theme that sticks through the whole album. It is her own personal diary of songs to reflect on her emotions of the past relationship. Each song brings a whole different tone to the first part of her album.

“Simmer” was her first released single. It is angry and raw about her past relationship. It sounds very vengeful, but still reflective and shows growth from who she was during the relationship and where she is now.

“Leave It Alone” is a soft song that relies heavily on the bass riff throughout the song. It compliments Williams’ raspy tone on the song.

Musically, the first part of her album is dynamic. It shows her range between upbeat songs with her power vocals and her softer songs. Either way, the first five songs hold a lot of different emotions.
